Help eradicate FGM in Liberia, 2017

Help finance my trip to Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, in February 2017 to work towards deterring the Zoe women from conducting the Sande Bush. The Sande Bush is a common practice of Female genital mutilation (FGM) also known as female genital cutting. This inhuman practice on innocent girls and women must be abandoned in the 21st century!
Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a premeditated practice of deforming defenseless girls for no medical reasons. In most prevalent countries where FGM is preformed as a customary tradition there are deeply rooted inequalities between the sexes. The percentage of FGM cases in Liberia is currently 54%. It is estimated that 125 to 140 million women and girls are victims of FGM, despite FGM being classified as a human rights violation by the World Health Organization, it still happens to thousands of vulnerable women and girls every single day. Globally, a woman or girl is violated by FGM practices every ten seconds. This means approximately 8,500 women and girls are harmed by FGM daily (UNICEF, 2013).
The goal of my trip is to provide funding for the women who have experienced FGM through micro-finance projects. Funding would help these women with agriculture businesses by earning enough income to support their families and abandon the practice of FGM. Most of the Zoe women I have spoken with say the Sande Bush Society functions as a business practice in terms of charging the girl’s parents, $10 US dollars before the child returns to their parents. This practice is more about male dominance over the women sexually rather then a business. Please join me and let’s fight to eradicate this inhuman practice on innocent girls and women. I can’t do it alone.
